While at SSC, you can perform rapid "bench-level" modifications to a prototype to pinpoint and mitigate interference before committing to a final design. For shielding adjustments, engineers often use conductive copper tape or aluminum foil to temporarily seal enclosure seams, bridge gaps, or create "Faraday cages" around noisy sub-sections like DC-DC converters. If radiated emissions drop significantly after applying tape, it confirms a "leak" in the enclosure's integrity. For filter adjustments, the lab environment allows for the real-time addition of clamp-on ferrite chokes to I/O and power cables, which help identify if a cable is acting as an unintended antenna. On the PCB level, you can iterate by manually soldering X and Y-type capacitors or swapping common-mode chokes to tune the filter's attenuation for specific failing frequencies, using the lab's spectrum analyzer to verify the fix instantly.
